Environmental Microbiology Laboratory at KAIST focuses on understanding and harnessing of environmental microbiome to seek solutions to various environmental problems. Our areas of research include, but are not limited to:

 

• Understanding and manipulation of the microbial C- and N-cycles to reduce greenhouse gas (CH4 and N2O) emission from natural and engineered environments.

• Assessment and improvement of biological drinking water safety in urban and rural water production and distribution systems 

• Bioremediation of various organic and inorganic contaminants.

• Environmental metagenomics and metatranscriptomics
