Where Environmental Engineering Meets Environmental Microbiology and Microbial Ecology!
Environmental Microbiology Laboratory at KAIST focuses on understanding and harnessing of microbial reactions to find solutions to various environmental problems including global warming and soil and water pollution. Our areas of research include, but are not limited to:
Understanding and manipulation of the microbial C- and N-cycles to reduce greenhouse gas (CH4 and N2O) emission from natural and engineered environments.
Environmental biotechnology for utilization of greenhouse gases for production of chemical and biomedical products.
Bioremediation of various organic and inorganic contaminants.
